Lib Dem Councillor calls for streets to be swept after bins are collected

November 29, 2005 4:00 PM

Man csweeping streetCray Valley East Lib Dem Councillor Martin Curry has secured the agreement of Bromley Council's Environment Portfolio Member, George Taylor, to rearrange street sweeping arrangements in the Borough.

At the meeting of Bromley Council held on November 28th, Cllr. Curry asked that Street Sweeping be carried out, within 24 hours of the collection of

household rubbish.

Cllr. Curry made his call, following a recent incident in Teal Avenue, St. Mary Cray, when rubbish spilt onto the street was ignored by the dustbin

men. Following a 'phone call by Cllr. Curry to the Council, the dustcart returned to clear up the mess.

Cllr. Curry said " I am pleased that the Council are now going to try to rearrange street cleansing in order that any mess left after the collection of household rubbish can be dealt with more quickly. The mess shouldn't happen in the first case, but if it does, it is right that the Council's contractors clear up the mess as soon as possible."
