As families are slowly moving off the Waldens Farm site in St Mary Cray, the priority now is to start clearing the site of the rubbish and debris that has been dumped on the site over the past few years.
Local councillors and residents are demanding that the Council bring in other agencies, such as the Environment Agency, to help get the job done, and are demanding an urgent start to the work.
Liberal Democrat Leader Cllr David McBride, whose Ward covers the Waldens Farm area, says that as some families move off, an urgent start to clear and secure the site is needed. "This is a Green Belt site and it should look like one. The disgraceful dumping of rubbish that has gone on over the years has left the area in a dreadful site. The Council cannot act alone but they can get other agencies, such as the Environment Agency, involved. I called on the Council Leader in November to start action on the site and local residents did so in December. We have been told that protecting the Green Belt is a priority but actions will speak louder than words."
