At the end of last year Cllr Bob Shekyls objected to a proposed increase in the Lebanon Gardens car park charges but the Beckenham Tory Councillor for the Environment has put them up as from April. In 1997 Bob, and Cllr Geoff Gostt strongly
opposed the introduction of charging. Again in 2004 Bob objected to an increase and the Director Of Environmental Services agreed it is under used and accepted not to put up the charges. Even at the current rate many people park in the unadopted part of Lebanon Gardens or on Stock Hill and people using the car park are mostly there for a short period whilst in the Doctors' surgery. "To increase the charge I fear there could be more parking in surrounding roads" says Bob.
