Cllr. Martin Curry has called for Council plans to draw up a master plan, designed to help Orpington Town Centre to meet the pressures of competing facilities, to include all of Orpington High Street north to Carlton Parade and south to the War memorial.
Cllr. Curry says, "I was concerned that the original proposals could have been interpreted so as to concentrate solely on "The Walnuts", but the High Street also needs consideration."
Cllr. Curry made his call at the meeting of Bromley Council's Development Control Committee, held on December 5th, which agreed to seek to produce a Supplementary Planning Document (Master Plan) for Orpington.
Cllr. Curry also reminded the committee that other proposals for the centre of Orpington were being considered by the Council, including moving Orpington Library into the vicinity of the Walnuts and that these proposals should be factored in when the "Master Plan" is being drawn up.
Cllr. Curry's call was supported by other councillors from the Orpington area.
Cllr. Martin Curry is a Lib Dem member for Cray Valley East, which includes part of Orpington High Street and Carlton Parade.
