Local Liberal Democrats are urging Bexley and Bromley councils to come to an arrangement over the use of the Refuse and Recycling Centres (amenity site) in Foots Cray in Bexley.

Currently, many residents in Orpington and the Cray Valley use these facilities because the amenity sites in Bromley and Beckenham are too far away. But non-Bexley residents are charged to take waste to the site.

The Mayor of London's waste strategy urges councils to agree that all Londoners using civic amenity sites should be able to do so free of charge.

Lib Dem Councillor Martin Curry says, "Charging people for disposing of waste only encourages fly-tipping. Bromley and Bexley need to sort this out; residents in St. Paul's Cray and St. Mary Cray used to be able to use the Foots Cray Site without charge, this should be restored"
