Stop the Education Cuts

School CutsBromley schools are set to be hit by devastating cuts of £22 million by 2019 - equivalent to £528 per pupil.
Details of the effect of these cuts to each school are available on the website School Cuts For example Harris Academy Beckenham will face an overall budget reduction of £738,034 by 2018, which is £792 per pupil or a reduction of 19 Teachers. But all Bromley schools are set to lose out under the Government plans.
Our Sixth formers have been particularly hard hit with an overall national spending on further education set to have fallen by over 13% from 2010 by 2019 putting current funding for 16- to 18-year-olds at the same level as it was almost 30 years ago.
The cuts are caused by the Conservative Government's plan to change the schools funding formula, this will generally see funds diverted away from schools in metropolitan areas such as Bromley. "The Liberal Democrats are in favour of the national funding formula, it should be a fairer and more transparent system for everyone" said local campaigner Julie Ireland. "However to introduce this change when schools are already suffering cuts to the overall budget of 6.5% is ridiculous. It shows a real lack of respect for the teaching staff who are struggling to cope with this funding crisis at the same time as changes to the curriculum and assessments are being introduced."
Bromley Liberal Democrats are leading the fight locally to oppose these cuts . Please sign our petition to show your support
