Bromley Conservative Councillor blames rape victim

Bromley Liberal Democrats have called on Conservative Councillor Shaun Slator to resign immediately following his disgusting comments about a rape victim in neighbouring Greenwich.

Leader of the Lib Dem Group on Bromley Council, Julie Ireland, has written to the Cllr Colin Smith, Leader of the Conservative Group demanding Cllr Slator resigns and is suspended from the Conservative Party.

“There is no place for views like this anywhere, but particularly not from elected representatives. What a terrible message to send to women and girls in his ward and across the borough that violence against them is likely to be trivialised and the victim condemned rather than the perpetrator. All violence against woman and girls needs to be condemned unequivocally.”
