Bromley Town Centre Planning Consultation

24 Jan 2023

The Lib Dems have published their response to Bromley Council's consultation on their Supplementary Planning document (SPD) for Bromley Town Centre. The full response can be read here.

The three Lib Dem councillors for Bromley Town have emphasised the importance of the document to help Councillors and officers to stand up for the best interests of local people, support positive regeneration plans which would enhance our town and resist massive overbearing developments which would not. The SPD should help Councillors, officers and developers to do this by clearly setting out what is acceptable and what is not.

Lib Dem Councillor Graeme Casey said "We have a responsibility to current and future generations to safeguard what is good about Bromley and support developments that will enhance and improve our town".

Our response covers tall buildings, the importance of more housing of the right kind including affordable and social housing, the promotion and continued enhancement of Bromley Town Centre as a major centre for commercial, retail, leisure and cultural activity, the protection of the character and heritage of Bromley, the need for improvement in public transport, connectivity and accessibility for all visitors and residents, and the protection and improvement of all our open spaces.

We urge everyone to take part in the consultation - comments from the public will form an important part in the content of the final document. To contribute you should email your comments to ldf@bromley.gov.uk or fill in the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BromleyTCSPD.

The consultation closes on 27th January 2023 so it's important you respond before then. You can see the full SPD here - it's a lengthy document but even if you just comment on one point - or copy a few of the points from our response - it will make a difference.
