Red pollution alert in Bromley
Bromley’s air quality monitors have turned red today, indicating that pollution levels are particularly high and will remain high for the next three days. If you live in Bromley, take extra care during this time by avoiding busy roads, staying indoors, and keeping your windows closed. If you have respiratory problems, seek medical attention if necessary.
Air pollution is a serious issue that affects us all. It can cause a range of health problems, including asthma, lung cancer, and heart disease. Poor air quality is also harmful to the environment, contributing to global warming and climate change.
Bromley Lib Dems have campaigned for Bromley Council to prioritise air quality. The Council uses the data from their single active air quality monitor located off Bromley High Street, plus a series of "diffusion tubes" that give an annual average of NO2 readings at different locations. In response to this lack of data the Lib Dems have set up a network of air quality monitors across the borough, showing the varying levels of pollution across our large and diverse borough at www.freshairbromley.org.uk
We support measures to tackle air pollution, including investing in public transport, and promoting cycling and walking. You can find out more about our environmental campaigning at https://www.bromleylibdems.org.uk/campaigns/air-quality By supporting our policies and taking steps to reduce your own carbon footprint, you can help us to achieve our goal of clean air for all
